Colorado’s future rests in our willingness to work together and find practical, common-sense solutions to our most pressing problems. As a Colorado native with a proven track record of creating jobs and improving our schools, I am working to lead Colorado toward a brighter future.
Like many Americans, I am frustrated with the partisanship and posturing of our leaders in Washington D.C. We need a new approach and leaders willing to put ideologies aside to work together to build ladders of opportunity, so that everybody has a chance to achieve the American Dream.
I believe the strongest ladder to success is education. Education is central to strengthening our economy now and for the future. After I started several successful businesses, I served as the chair of the Colorado State Board of Education. There I witnessed firsthand the shortcomings of our public education system and I decided to do something about it, so I founded innovative charter schools to meet the needs of underserved students. Education continues to be a top priority for me in Congress. We must have accountability at all levels; from teachers and administrators, to parents and students to ensure that every child graduates high school prepared for college or a career.
I have experienced the American Dream firsthand. I have been blessed and humbled by the opportunities that our great country has provided me. But I am concerned that it is getting harder and harder for many Americans to get ahead. This deep concern is what inspires me to give back and serve our country, and to fight everyday for important federal education reforms and policies that lead to economic growth and job creation. I hope you’ll join me as we work together to build an even brighter future for Colorado.
