BOULDER, CO – The Sierra Club today announced their endorsement of Jared Polis for Congress, stating his strong commitment to protecting the environment and comprehensive policy proposals to reduce carbon emissions, address climate change and invest in renewable energy technology.
Rebecca Dickson, Political Committee Chair for the Sierra Club’s Rocky Mountain Region, said, “with his strong concern for the environment and climate change, Jared Polis will continue our district’s ongoing tradition of sending representatives to Washington who will fight for environmental protection. We look forward to working with him.”
“I am excited to have the support of one of the leading environmental organizations in the nation and will not let them down as I stand up for the environment and environmental technologies in Congress,” said Polis. “I am so thankful of the Sierra Club’s confidence in me and look forward to helping their cause in Congress.”
Polis, who is the former Chairman of the State Board of Education, is running for Congress in Colorado’s 2nd congressional district, a seat being vacated by environmental advocate Mark Udall who is running to represent Colorado in the U.S. Senate.
